Gluten-free living?
Enjoyment instead of renunciation.

In 2009, Isabella was diagnosed with celiac disease, which meant she was no longer allowed to eat any gluten-containing foods. Implementing this at home was already a challenge. But eating out without coming into contact with gluten was practically impossible at the time.

Gluten-free baked goods, fresh and fragrant straight from the bakery, were out of the question.

So the idea of opening a gluten-free café began to take shape. Here, we tell her story.

Isabella's Bakery Story

It all began with a diagnosis about 10 years ago: celiac disease. For Isabella, who, thanks to her Italian roots, has an absolute passion for delicious food, this was initially a catastrophe. What did this gluten intolerance mean for her? How can she live a successful gluten-free lifestyle? Would she have to forgo her beloved pasta from now on? Wonderful dinners with friends and family? Absolutely unthinkable for her!

It all started with Düsseldorf

A lot has happened since 2015: After opening the first café in Düsseldorf's Oberkassel district, a small shop on Düsseldorf's famous Königsallee was added just six months later. This not only grew the fantastic team, but also meant that Isabella's bakery needed an upgrade and had to be expanded for the first time.

Gluten-free living times four: The minds behind Isabella

Of course, a family business only works if everyone pulls together. It was perfect that Isabella was fortunate enough to have her husband Christof and son Dominic by her side from the very beginning, passionately supporting her—and together they were able to make the patisserie what it is today.

Allergens

All our products are not only gluten-free, but also mostly lactose-free, sugar-reduced, vegan and made without other allergens.

Quality

We use only the finest, selected raw materials in the production of our products. Isabella's breads and rolls all carry the organic seal.

Crafts

Isabella not only offers full flavor, but also a wealth of craftsmanship and aesthetics. All products are handcrafted in our bakery according to our own recipes.
